Sterilite SuperThermic
Benefits from an 8 year UVI package with a 5 year UVI breakdown guarantee and contains a special anti drip additive (AF) to reduce condensation in the tunnel. It incorporates the latest (MLLDPE) SuperStrength polymer technology to give a film which is stronger and more gale resistant than some films which are up to 50% thicker and with a light transmission of ~88%. Its special temperature control properties (TCF) will keep the tunnel cooler in the summer than other thermic or clear films, and because of its exclusive SuperThermic additive it will be warmer in the winter, extending the growing season into the Autumn and bringing it forward in the Spring. Used by many of the countries organic and exhibition growers it won the Four Oaks Trade Show best new product award 1996 for its ability to reduce Aphids and Whitefly as well as fungal diseases such as downy mildew and botrytis.
SunMaster Diffused

It extends the season in the Autumn and brings it forward in Spring and even though it is not a SuperThermic cover it will give some Frost protection as well. It will also be cooler inside your tunnel in hot weather than clear films. Its ability to allow the same amount of UV into the tunnel as your plants get outside gives speedier rooting, and stronger bushier plants. Research has shown that edible crops grown under full UV conditions contain more antioxidants than crops grown under normal polythene or glass.

Clear Polythene
This is a basic clear cover for general all round uses and has a light transmittance of approximately 90%. 720g UVI / EVA polythene is the least expensive in our range.
Luminance THB-AF
800 G thermal barrier film that has been developed to achieve better control of summer temperatures while retaining overnight temperatures. This polythene also has the added advantage of an anti-condensation additive which reduces dripping in your tunnels and also reduces heat build up due to hot weather providing a more comfortable working environment and less plant scorching. Although this polythene has an Opaque white appearance, a high level of light is still achieved, approximately 90%
Polytherm Plus
Polytherm Plus combines excellent mechanical strength and anti- fogging properties whilst maintaining a clear, high light transmission film. The heat retaining characteristics of the film provide the warmest conditions in the winter and overnight, and fast warm-up and plant development in the spring. Polytherm Plus provides broad band absorption of ultra-violet light which assists in the control of botrytis and downy mildew. Aphids and whitefly infestations can also be inhibited. The behaviour of pollinating insects may be affected and the development of some plant or flower colours and fragrances may be inhibited. 90% light transmission. 720g

Use this film for:
Dedicated bedding growers. A different approach but growers who are using it wonder how they managed before. Also used by some nursery stock growers.
SmartBlue GR reduces the near red part of the spectrum more than the far red. this stimulates natural triggers on the plants which reduces the height of many plants and is also useful in holding them in good condition so that they remain saleable longer. It is only Blue because the filter we use turns it that colour. Plant flowering will be delayed by about 2 weeks. Plants have a shorter internodal length, better basal branching and enhanced leaf colour. GPR’s can be reduced or eliminated entirely. Also gives a cooler environment on hot days.
Our SuperStrength technology is used on this film making it thinner yet stronger than other normal films on the market. It also has the Anti drip additive which breaks down the surface tension of the condensation droplets which makes them run down the film which helps retain light clarity. We have also made this film slightly thermic which should give around a 2°C frost protection as well as saving you around 10% on your heating costs.

Use this film for:
Growing shade loving plants. This includes Camellias, Hosta’s, Ferns, Rhododendrons Ilex, Laurels etc
SmartGreen reduces the far red part of the spectrum more than the near red. This more closely matches the light spectrum on a forest floor or under a woodland canopy.
A forest canopy is not just darker but the canopy plants have absorbed much of the red spectrum and so plants that have evolved and adapted to grow in these conditions don’t do as well in full sun conditions. The green tint is merely because the filter we use turns it that colour. By mimicking the shade of a forest floor, it also makes it a cooler environment to work in.
The new SmartGreen is also UV open so that plants grow more sturdily than under normal polythene films or under glass. We have also added the Anti Fog (AF) additive to reduce dripping and retain light clarity.
SmartGreen is made using our SuperStrength technology to make the film stronger and more gale proof than ordinary UVI/EVA films. |
