The Help Page

Some people new to the Polytunnel will not understand exactly what they need to get set up ready to go. So hopefully I can help you a little on this page.

Common Questions

Q: Will my new polytunnel stand up to the winds?

A: Yes........As long as you have constructed correctly the right polytunnel for your needs, taking into consideration your area and the wind factor.

Q: What are Crop Bars?

A: Crop bars are fitted across the internal hoops, they will add about 20% strength to the polytunnel both snow and wind load, you can also hang baskets and tie crops to them.
In my mind a very good investment.

Q: What is a Base Rail?

A: The base rail is fitted to the ground tubes and used to fit the cover to. This does away with digging a trench to bury the cover. It does mean you will have to concrete in the ground tubes. This system makes a neater job and strengthens the polytunnel at ground level.

Q: What is a Side Rail & Netting?

A: The Side Rail & Netting is fitted approximately 1m high from ground level along the sides of the structure, this will give you ventilation as you need a good airflow through the tunnel. It will also allow you to close the doors to keep out animals etc.....With tunnels over 40' long I would say is a good idea to have one at least on one side . Please note if fitting a side rail you must also fit the base rail

Q: What is a Wind Up or Roll up Curtain?

A: This is fitted to the inside of the netting and means you can open and close the sides of the tunnel for ventilation.

Q: Can I build a Polytunnel on a slope?

A: Yes... you can put them on a slight slope along the length of the polytunnel,
but try to keep the width of the structure as level as possible.

Q: Which is the strongest covering?

A: They are all strong and have a five season manufacturers guarantee, its all in the fitting of the cover getting it as tight as possible. Have a look at the covers page for more info.

Q: How long does delivery take?

A: Delivery is normally around one to three weeks from date of order as all polytunnels and Fruit Cages are manufactured to order. ''This is depends on the time of year'' Covers, spares etc.. we can deliver within three days.
